Wine Director - Jamie

Jamie is the only Certified Wine Educator in Kansas, and has worked in the wine industry for many years at establishments in Coronado, California, Standard Beverage Corporation, and right here at Jacob Liquor. He attended the Oregon Pinot Noir Camp and passed the first test of the Court of Master Sommeliers. Jamie is also a member of the Society of Wine Educators and has passed the Certified Specialist of Wine and Certified Wine Educator tests through the guild. His most recent accomplishment is certification as a Spanish Wine Educator.

Visits to many wine regions have helped him gain more knowledge in this field. Jamie enjoys wine education and hosting various wine tastings throughout the year, and his goal is to bring more hard-to-find wines to the our local market and help Wichitans become more aware of the fine qualities of wine. He wants to help you see how FUN wine can be.

Staff Members

Larry is another wine expert that we are proud to have on our team. His years in the beverage industry include 12 years owning his own store and 18 years with Standard Beverage Corporation. During Larry's time with Standard, he founded Vintage Marketing and was vice president of that division for 10 years. His attendance at numerous seminars includes the German Wine Academy at Kloster Eberbach. He completed training for the Sommelier Society of America and WSWA classes taught by the University of California at Davis. During his "spare" time, he taught wine appreciation classes at the Marcus Center for Continuing Education for 21 years.

Whitney is the newest member of the wine team. Whitney graduated from Kansas State University with her degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management in December 2008. While studying abroad in Paris Whitney fell in love with wine.  Upon graduation she attended the International Wine Guild in Denver,CO where she completed the First and Second Level sommelier certification and has earned the title of Food and Wine Pairing Specialist through the guild as well.  Most recently Whitney has passed the Wine and Spirits Education Trust's Advanced Exam with Merit.  She hopes to continue her education in all aspects of the beverage industry.
